Heralded as "perhaps the finest German opera of the 21st century" (Tempo), Detlev Glanert's Caligula arrives in the Americas in April, opening the opera season of the storied Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Since its successful premiere in Frankfurt in 2006, the opera has been remounted throughout Germany and saw a new production directed by Benedict Andrews for the English National Opera open to ecstatic reviews. For the April performances, Ira Levin conducts, and Peter Coleman Wright reprises his role as Rome's notorious emperor.
