Celebrate... THE PAJAMA GAME - 60th Anniversary!

ONCE-A-YEAR DAY

Happy 60th Birthday to classic Broadway hit, THE PAJAMA GAME!
The fun and splashy musical comedy with the score of Richard Adler and Jerry Ross opened in 1954 to rave reviews and has been going strong ever since.

With such memorable songs as: Once-A-Year-Day, Seven and a Half Cents, Hey There & Steam Heat, the show tells the unexpected story of a hassle between garment workers and a pajama factory president, and the complications it causes to a workplace romance.

So irresistible were the characters, humorous storyline and exuberant music, that a musical film of the same name was released in 1957 starring Doris Day. The stage musical was revived on Broadway in 1973, and again in 2006 (starring Kellie O’Hara and Harry Connick JR). Winning a Tony for Best Musical in 1954, and another for Best Revival over half a century later in 2006, THE PAJAMA GAME has truly stood the test of time and remains a timeless classic, popular among community and school theatre groups alike.

SYNOPSIS

The dangers of a workplace romance are explored to hysterical effect in this romantic comedy. Conditions at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory are anything but peaceful, as sparks fly between new superintendent Sid Sorokin and Babe Williams, leader of the union grievance committee. Their stormy relationship comes to a head when the workers strike for a 7½-cent pay increase, setting off not only a conflict between management and labour, but a battle of the sexes as well!
