Revues - Let the Singers Shine

The end of the year is near! Now is the perfect time to choose a show that will showcase your incredible performers without the stress of set and costumes changes or a complicated script. A Revue (sometimes known as a ‘song cycle’) features the songs sewn together to create a night of beautiful music without the need for lengthy dialogue. Check out our recommendations below:

Penned by Tony-Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown, this song cycle features some of his most popular songs including ‘I’m Not Afraid of Anything’, ‘Christmas Lullaby’, ‘She Cries’ and ‘The River Won’t Flow’.

From Bessie Smith to Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Alberta Hunter, Jimmy Cox, Ida Cox and more, Blues in the Night tells of the pain and misery of life and love and also of the dogged determination to get through it all that is the essence of the blues. Featuring hit songs such as ‘Blues in the Night’, ‘Lover Man’ and ‘These Foolish Things Remind Me of You’.

A series of musical snapshots from the imaginations of Kooman and Dimond. Each snapshot attempts to make sense of an increasingly senseless world by examining the paradox of modern times. At once dangerously cynical and desperately romantic, it is a tale of love, loss, and candy bars.

A musical revue featuring the most acclaimed songs from Australian composer Matthew Lee Robinson's early catalogue. From his critically lauded first musical Metro Street through to the new musical Happy People, SING ON THROUGH TOMORROW tells the story of four thirty-somethings who must travel back in time to rediscover a new way to step forward.

Written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (DOGFIGHT, Smash, James and the Giant Peach) in their sophomore year at the University of Michigan, the contemporary song cycle carries an honest voice advocating introspection while maintaining wit and charm. Confronting emotions, escaping expectations, and deciphering complicated relationships--the songs cover such universal issues as love, commitment, identity, and meaning.

Life (with its glories, indignities, hopes and quiet dreams) is the subject of this stunning revue of the beloved songs of John Kander and Fred Ebb. The vast range of human experience is explored in song after impeccable song by one of Broadway’s most daring and successful teams and masters of the heart-grabbing Broadway showstopper.
Featuring some of Kander and Ebb’s greatest hits including ‘But The World Goes ‘Round’, ‘And All That Jazz’, ‘Mister Cellophane’, ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’, ‘Cabaret’ and ‘New York, New York’.

MAKE ME A SONG is a celebration of William Finn's exceptional career in musical theatre. Effortlessly woven together, treasured tunes by the composer (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) tell personal, haunting and often hilarious tales from Finn's rich and touching songbook. Includes ‘Hitchhiking Across America’, ‘Republicans’, ‘I’d Rather Be Sailing’ and ‘When the Earth Stopped Turning’.

"Put on your Sunday clothes" and enjoy this toe-tapping revue celebrating the work of Jerry Herman, composer and lyricist for some of Broadway's greatest shows and recipient of the 2009 Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.
Incorporating hit song after hit song, SHOWTUNE is sure to please audiences young and old alike with witty lyrics set to iconic tunes from shows including Hello, Dolly!, Mame, and La Cage Aux Folles.
